Working with WiseCo

Will I talk to the electrician who does the work?

Yes. Byron Wise owns WiseCo and does every job himself, occasionally with one long-time helper. He answers most calls directly; if he’s on a job, leave a voicemail or send a text and he’ll get back to you.

What are your hours? Do you take urgent calls?

Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, with Saturdays by appointment. WiseCo doesn’t run an after-hours emergency service, but will generally take same-day urgent work when the schedule allows.

Is your work guaranteed?

Yes. WiseCo guarantees parts and labor for one year.

Where do you work?

WiseCo serves the greater Sacramento County area and all points in between, plus nearby Placer, El Dorado and Amador communities, including Sacramento, Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Folsom, Elk Grove and Citrus Heights. Call or text to confirm your address.

Do you do commercial work?

WiseCo’s work is about 95% residential. Call to ask about small commercial projects.

Pricing and quotes

Can you give me a price from photos?

Often, yes. Photos of your electrical panel, the work area and the path between them may be enough for a quote or a reliable price range. Text them to (916) 752-4303 with a short description.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. WiseCo quotes by the job, so you know the complete price before work begins. If something unexpected turns up, Byron stops, explains it and gets your approval before doing any additional work.

Are permits included?

When a permit is required, we’ll clearly state whether it is included. Our panel-upgrade starting price includes standard permit costs.

Do you share all the options, including the less expensive ones?

Absolutely. We’ll explain your options—including practical, lower-cost alternatives—so you can choose what makes sense for your home and budget.

What happens if you discover additional work is needed?

We’ll stop, explain what we found and discuss the options and cost with you. No additional work is completed without your approval.

Do you offer financing or help with SMUD rebates?

Yes. Financing is available through Wisetack for qualifying customers. WiseCo is a member of the SMUD Contractor Network and can help you find and apply for rebates that fit your project.

Panels and insurance

My insurance company says I need a new panel. Which panels are affected?

Insurers commonly flag Zinsco, Federal Pacific, Challenger, Pushmatic and Bulldog panels, fuse boxes installed before 1990, and panels more than 40 years old. WiseCo replaces them with permits secured and the work inspected and approved. Requirements vary by insurer, so check your notice, and Byron can inspect your panel ahead of time if you’re unsure.

Do I need a 200-amp panel?

Not always. Many homes do fine on 100 or 125 amps. A load calculation shows whether your current service can handle what you’re adding before you pay for an upgrade.

Do you handle the permit and the utility?

Yes. Byron pulls the permit, schedules the inspection and coordinates the disconnect and reconnect with SMUD or PG&E.

EV chargers and new circuits

Are you a Tesla Certified Installer?

Yes. WiseCo is a Tesla Certified Installer for Tesla Wall Connectors, and installs every major Level 2 charger.

Do I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger?

Often not. Many homes can add a charger on a new circuit. Byron checks your panel first and tells you straight.

Can you add a circuit for a heat pump, dryer or hot tub?

Yes. New circuits start at $475, assuming room in your panel and a reasonably accessible wiring route.
