Subpanels
More breaker space for your garage, shop or ADU
A subpanel gives you breaker space where you need it: a garage workshop, detached shop, ADU or addition. Byron sizes it correctly, feeds it from your main panel and handles the permits.
- Garages, shops and ADUs
- Sized with a load check
- Permits and inspection

Is it right for you?
When a subpanel makes sense
If your main panel is out of breaker spaces, or you need several circuits far from it, a subpanel is often the cleanest solution. It’s fed by one large circuit from the main panel, then distributes power locally.
A subpanel adds space, not capacity. If your service is already near its limit, Byron will check that first, so the new panel doesn’t just move the problem somewhere else.

Tell Byron what you’ll run, and he’ll size it right
A subpanel is only as good as the feeder and the main panel behind it. Byron checks your main service, sizes the subpanel and feeder for what you plan to run, pulls the permit and gets the work inspected.
- Main panel capacity checked first
- Feeder sized for the load
- Permit and inspection handled

Common projects
Where subpanels go
Garages
Workbench outlets, lighting, freezers, an EV charger and tools, without crowding the main panel.
Detached shops
A properly grounded feeder to a separate building, with room for 240-volt tools.
ADUs
Power for a granny flat or converted garage, coordinated with your load calculation and permit.
Additions and remodels
Local breaker space for a new wing, kitchen or primary suite.
Done right

Questions
Common questions
Don’t see yours? Text Byron. You’ll get a real answer from the person doing the work.
Text a questionHow much does a subpanel cost?
It depends on the size of the subpanel, the distance from the main panel and whether the feeder runs underground or through the house. Byron quotes by the job, usually after photos or a short visit.
Does a subpanel add more power to my house?
No. A subpanel adds breaker space, not service capacity. If your service is close to its limit, a load calculation or a service upgrade may be needed too.
Do I need a subpanel for an ADU?
Usually, yes, plus a load calculation to confirm your service can support it. Byron can help with the electrical side of the permit.
